The day has come and gone!

*Yes, thank you Peel Fresh for the free fan. It was HOT and STUFFY all the way but you made it better. Even Kelly was commenting on how she was sweating.*

I went with my fellow fans, Tantan and Brenddie! I'm sorry girls but this was the only group pic I have...

Thank God for Star LRT, Bukit Jalil was just a train ride away.

Concert was scheduled to start at 8pm. So we went a lil bit early and sat inside the stadium. All of us didn't bring in cameras because we thought they would conduct bag checks and keep our cameras if they did find any. THEY DIDN'T. We regretted, but we had phones with cameras anyway, while the photos are not really clear (3.2...) I could somewhat fully enjoy the concert without worrying about taking photos.

The same could not be said about a father and daughter pair sitting in front of us. The father was busy snapping away pictures of her daughter having fun. So much that Tantan and Brenddie got jealous. Right? =P

Bren, you should totally follow your dad to the Deep Purple concert! Nyahaha.

The view from our RM198 seat. It was a level higher than the stage but it was okay as there were 2 screens. And we were center enough to see her and the band.

As we were early and already seated, Natalie from Hitz.fm was busy entertaining everyone with free posters. But because we paid less and was therefore a level higher, the poster she threw couldn't reach us.

Besides posters, they also decided to launch a balloon avalanche on us. Situated all the way at the top level were a lot of balloons held up by a net. They decided to release them suddenly without warning.

Thanks to Sony Ericsson for the surprise balloons! Everyone was busy throwing them forward. It's amazing to see how many balloons were falling from the sky.

Then, the opening acts came on! Punctual as well. 8pm sharp wei...

Jaclyn Victor, winner of Malaysian Idol sang a medley and Suki, winner of One in a Million sang a Malay song and played a little violin, which Tantan commented it was rather 'unskillfully". I have to say that while being somewhat out of place, Suki's dress was very very nice. There was a red ruffle madness going on. But me likey. I read on a blog (Google does wonders) that her dress costs RM15,000. But for Kelly Clarkson's concert? I felt she chose the wrong clothes to put on that evening. Kelly Clarkson herself wore only a black top, a skirt and leggings for the whole duration of her concert.

Which ran for only 1 and a half hours (a bit short, I want more! XD)...

Jaclyn's voice was great. I listened to her live before (thanks to Tantan) and I was hoping she would sing some of Kelly's songs as well but she only sang one song that night. The crowd was cheering pretty loud for her too. You can tell the difference between cheers for Suki and her.

Crappy photo coming through... It is actually nearer than it looks. My phone's camera is meh.

The main act! She sounded really great live. She rocked out the whole concert with hardly any breaks in between. As her birthday was on the 24th, some of the crowd started singing her a birthday song (although it was partially drowned out by the cheers and the music of the next song that was starting to play) and she acknowleged their efforts! Way to go Malaysia! And she proudly announced that she turned 28.

She also went barefooted throughout the concert - skipping, hopping and bouncing to her own music. She sang her famous songs from all her albums that night. The set list for her Asian tour (thanks to Wikipedia):

  1. All I Ever Wanted
  2. Miss Independent
  3. I Do Not Hook Up
  4. Impossible
  5. That I Would Be Good (Alanis Morissette cover)/Use Somebody (Kings of Leon cover)
  6. Breakaway
  7. If I Can't Have You/Can't Get You Out of My Head (Kylie Minogue cover)
  8. Never Again
  9. Lies (The Black Keys cover)
  10. Tonight I Wanna Cry (Keith Urban Cover)
  11. Acoustic Medley
    1. Just Missed The Train
    2. Low
    3. Addicted
    4. Gone
  12. Behind These Hazel Eyes (Acoustic)
  13. Cry
  14. I Want You
  15. Don't Let Me Stop You
  16. Because of You
  17. Maybe
  18. Walk Away
  19. Since U Been Gone

Encore:

  1. Already Gone
  2. Seven Nation Army (The White Stripes cover)
  3. My Life Would Suck Without You
This was roughly it. I'm not really sure about some of the songs as I don't know some of the songs that she covered.

I really enjoyed the concert! Didn't regret going at all (trade-off for Video Games Live, which I heard was really great as well. Please come next year?) The fun part was when she sang and the crowd starting to go wild and sing along to her songs. Then once in a while she would point the microphone out towards the crowd and let us sing. Feel the love~

One thing is the sound system. Everything was really loud and I could feel my seats shaking and my hearing was a bit muffled up a while into the concert. We were also lucky it didn't rain, but even if it did, the outdoor stadium has a roof! =D

I am thankful that I have never been to any Asian concerts before, as I heard that the concerts last for 3 hours with many costume changes and dancers on a big stage with many entry points. Kelly's stage might pale in comparison to that, but her 3 guitarists, 2 backup singers, a drummer and a DJ were enough to deliver a great energetic performance.

To sum everything up, like I said on my FB status:

Kelly Clarkson nearly made me deaf, but it a good way.

Apartment repainting in progress. The walls are a mess! Water sprayed on the walls resulted in the ugly patches. It's gonna be beige in a few weeks.

Great start to the New Year!

And Happy Birthday Pei Ying! My childhood friend. <3

I'll start
Monday starts these regular days
The weekend that I long for is still far away
I'm already used to the routines on Tuesday & Wednesday
The smile I faked might have just cramped

By the time I realize, it's Thursday
This is pretty important
Since I don't have any plans for tomorrow night
I'll spend all of Friday thinking
Freely, I'll break through these walls & go

Going up!

This is the first time I spend a festive holiday in Genting.

The crowd can kill. I bet it is as big as the population in Penang.

We left at about 10am, and arrived 11+.

Foggy eh?

I went to the indoor theme park in the Resort part of Genting, the old one. I didn't play anything though. I'm surprised myself! All the while I only wanted to go indoors, as I'm too much of a coward to play the outdoor park.

Why? I'm guessing that I'm torn between winning the Big prize which was a really cute purple hippo (>.<) or unlucky enough to not win anything and instead left with 50+ tickets which IMO, not worth exchanging for anything worthwhile. Good stuff can only be redeemed with at least 100+ tickets. And since I'm only there for awhile, I decided to just stand by and watch everyone else having fun. =(

Tried to sneak in the casino with my mum and relatives... OF COURSE kena caught lah... Sigh.

Trust me, I'll get stopped next yet too even if I'm legally 21.

So I spent the afternoon wandering around. I even had a dizzy/fainting spell while eating lunch! Lucky I was sitting down or I would have fell. I'm weak, I know that since I had several blackouts in secondary school. =/

Speaking of eating, the meals up there were terrifyingly expensive! Now I know why we should always bring cup noodles lol! Imagine 3 plates of nasi campur and 3 teh tarik costing RM80+! I could have 123124342 plates and glasses of teh in KL.

Oh, we visited Lim Goh Tong's museum!

Me and my mahjong sifus.

We also drank some chinese tea worth Rm100 per pot. (@_@) Thanks to my kaiyeh's friend for the drink! Lol.

About 7.30pm, we headed to the Arena of Stars for the concert!

The queue.

The eerie theme park in Genting at night. It was kinda beautiful in a way.

Oh, and what better way to prove that you don't really know someone that well when you can't spell their name...

She's FrancEs Yip. Not FrancIs Yip. Stupid me.

What I DO know is... that she's good! And she speaks in both English and Cantonese so it's cool for me. I can understand her! XD

She sang non-stop from about 2 hours. No breaks, not even to drink water. Just chatting and singing. She's gorgeous for a 68 year old! No kidding! So elegant and proper. She can even crack jokes.

At least I wasn't bored. I know only about 20% of the songs she sang. Lol.

Also, the room we had was soooooooo small. 9 of us magically fitted on the 2 queen size bed that we split in half.

Best comment from kaiyeh:

"We look like dead bodies"

Because the mattresses are in white. So are the blankets. And the mattresses are all on the floor. Creepy.

Couldn't really sleep though because my nephew keeps coughing and wheezing that they brought him to the clinic downstairs.

We left Genting the next day about 10am. Then played mahjong until 12am. *dies*

I had a full Christmas in 2009. I hope the same goes to you. =)

Dad says that he wants to watch Avatar in 3D! OMGGGGG I cannot believe how shocked I am to hear that. We have not been to the cinema for a very long time as a family. the last time was the FREE pass to watch the premier of Da Vinci Code. I hope it is still showing in cinemas next week!

Merry Christmas to all!

Tomorrow morning I will be heading off to Genting to watch Francis Yip! To those who don't know who she is... I gotta say this to you:

Don't worry, I don't know either! I heard she's a good singer though! =)

I just can't wait to play in the arcade.

Once a again Merry Christmas!

This year’s winter too, the tolling of the bells resound
Candles are lit
Prayers are made for presents from Santa Claus
But still nothing is more precious than the days I spend with you

"Troublesome times" and happy times
Both of us together decorating the room
From today, until next year
Let’s always celebrate
Merry Christmas

This town, where we have passed so many days
Is coloured by the light of love as well this year
What kind of feelings will get through?
What kind of wishes will come true?

The people who come to town walk quickly
Everyone is surrounded by love
This year, a year without concerns
Is the present that I want from God

Today is when everything in this world
Is wrapped up in holy light
“Depend on the magic of smiles!”
I’m on the phone with you, listening to you laugh
“I’m waiting in front of the usual train station”
Let’s celebrate together
Merry Christmas

This town where we have passed so many days
This year also ‘Jingle Bells’ is heard
What kind of feelings will get through?
What kind of wishes will come true?

I’m wearing the muffler that you gave me
Under the cold sky, at the appointed place
I rush over to you who have been waiting alone
Look! From the sky, white light is filtering down

This town where we have passed so many days
Powdered snow is dyeing everything white
This evening, to all the people
Somehow or another, please let this warmth be delivered

This town where we have passed so many days
This year also, is coloured by the light of love
What kind of feelings will get through?
What kind of wishes will come true?

Let’s always celebrate this special day together

"The Winter Solstice Festival or The Extreme of Winter is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians during the dongzhi solar term on or around December 21 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest; i.e., on the first day of the dongzhi solar term. The origins of this festival can be traced back to the yin and yang philosophy of balance and harmony in the cosmos. After this celebration, there will be days with longer daylight hours and therefore an increase in positive energy flowing in. Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get togethers (especially in the southern parts of China and in Chinese communities overseas) is the making and eating of Tangyuan (湯圓, as pronounced in Cantonese; Mandarin Pinyin: Tāng Yuán) or balls of glutinous rice, which symbolize reunion."

Source: Wikipedia (unreliable academically... at least officially, but very useful otherwise)

Like many other Chinese families, my family celebrated the Winter Solstice festival, complete with family reunion and 'Tong Yuen'. My aunt, her friend, my sis and her husband came back home for dinner. Chatted, updated each other and had lots of 'Tong Yuen'. I'm worried that they won't digest. (T.T)

So... since the 'Tong Yuen' can be bought in supermarket nowadays, my mum decided to make it more traditionally, she bought multicoloured doughs from the wet market nearby.

Green and yellow, made into small round shape.

I... had fun mixing the colours. Like Play-Doh!

Boiling the pink ones. Shoooo kyutteeeee.

Cooked ones.

All together now! Bursting with colours!

Unfortunately, they are tasteless!! =)
Save for the syrup (pandan leaves + ginger + rock sugar).

Then... just start OM NOM NOM NOM NOM nom nom...

I'll just stick to supermarket ones with black sesame fillings until the next 'Tong Yuen' eating festival. Yum.

Christmas is coming! What do I have in stored for myself? Watching Francis Yip in Genting with fam and relatives! I'm not sure how excited I should be but spending time with the fam is always great fun!

Between me, who isn't able, and you
Is it alright to be this selfish?
If I don't put it into words, if I don't say it right now
Then I just don't know what will happen
Don't stop me anymore

Back from 2 days of Comic Fiesta. Needless to say, I enjoyed myself this time around. Partly due to the fact that I did not volunteer this year. XD

Sales was pretty good. It was a confirm profit but I did spend on other people's stuff so...

Did not take alot of pictures. Less than 5 perhaps. Cosplay photos will be everywhere anyway. Save my battery. Aha.

Oh, and the emcees were WONDERFUL. I like their sporting attitude and sense of humour. Wicked and a lil bit of underlying messages that I manage to catch. They make CF funny and alive, especially during intermissions and even during the Cosplay competition. Imagine some goody-goody emcee. Booooooorinnngggggg. I hope they bring them back a few more years! XP

And on Day 2, during intermission, they played Gee by Girls Generation. Then a bunch of girls started dancing to the steps that Gee is famous for. Then there were cheering. And more Korean songs were played. Sorry Sorry by Suju and Abracadabra from BEG and even Nobody from Wonder Girls! Korea invaded CF. Haha. The bunch of girls then got invited to do an impromptu performance on stage following much cheering. I have to girl them props for being so sporting too! Seems like alot of people in CF are actually into Korean groups for the deejays to have that song on the playlist. I even heard Lollipop from BigBang and 2NE1. ZOMG I was so happy inside!

Will update more about it soon if I have anything to add!

One thing though that I like about CF, it's that I can relate to most of the people there. Even talk to strangers! I'm so happy. Lol.

I can't wait for CF '10. I hope its somewhere like Sunway again.

I have no idea what this song means. But it's the dance that's important. It's so famous in the otaku community it's not funny. Almost everybody here knows it.
The song is annoyingly cute. <3

...things happen. Lol.

I'm really surprised. Grateful. Speechless.

I've achieved something I've NEVER thought of achieving. Unconsciously I achieved it.

That's the thing about me, you know. All my life, I do not place any expectations on myself education wise. I hardly pressure myself in education. It's all about my pace.

And today, I have achieved, in my book, what seems to be success after success. Surprise after surprise. First with PTS, then in UPSR, then in PMR, then SPM, even Pre-U and now di menara gading.

Thank you to whoever has been blessing me behind my back.

Nevertheless, life's never perfect, so while I'm enjoying success here, I'm lacking elsewhere.

For once, I've put myself to the test, and I feel that I'm improving. The battle was half won. =)

And... HAPPY BIRTHDAY VON!

See her happy/scared face?
Now you are officially older than me. HAHA

Managed to surprise her, and we got surprised back. By Fridays and by Birthday girl.
Thanks Amanda, Brentda, Tantan and LingLing for helping me!

I believe the next victim is also someone by the name of Von.

CF is coming this weekend. I'm excited - sewing, packing and decorating. I truly enjoy doing this and I can only hope that other people like my work as well. I hope that in the future, this can be one of my side income. Haha.

Sewing was really not my hobby. It's actually more to plushie making. Keychains. Crafts. But when people ask me what is that I do, I just tell them sewing. Because well... it's easier to imagine what I do?

In commemoration of Xmas last year, I made these to sell in CF 08:

A Santa onigiri keychain. And they sold really well. Thank you! (T.T)

This year I made something for Xmas too, but just something really small. I'll post it during Xmas if I remember!

Oh you know I was on the honor role,
got good grades,
and got no soul,
raise my hand before I can speak my mind,
I've been biting my tongue too many times,
And then that magic man said to obey,
(uh huh)
do what magic man do,
not what magic man say,
Now could I please have the attention of the class,
today's assignment,
KICK SOME ASS!

By chance, today when I went to Wangsa Walk, I was stopped by 2 girls. One in a masquerade mask extending her hand and talked to me in Mandarin. I smiled at her and said I couldn't understand her. Then, she said to me:

"Hi, I'm HIV positive. Will you shake my hand?"

And without a doubt, I shook her hand.

One should know that HIV does not transmit through handshake, at least.

After that, they began to ask us questions about AIDS. I'd admit I don't know much, and she gladly enlightened me. I also got a coupon and a red ribbon. (^_^)

The coupon. For lucky draw and free gifts.

oh, FYI, World AIDS Day falls on 1st of December yearly. Yeah, that's news to me too.

The awareness campaign.

The red ribbon represents concern for people with HIV and AIDS, and the need for other people to be aware and to care.

So people, the next time someone with HIV approaches you, don't be afraid to shake their hands!

My monitor approves!

My table lamp approves!

Allen Walker approves!

Kyoya approves! (He was even glad to pose for it)

Lady was being suspicious at first...

But she approves of it too!

On another unrelated note, High School Musical marathon today on Disney Channel. All 3 of 'em. Haha.

This morning I watched Mulan rerun on Disney too. Brings back memories. And now that I can FULLY understand their dialogues, I appreciate it more. (^_^) Not to mention the totally-outrageously-funny-and-awesome BM subtitles! Look at the song below and imagine it in BM please. ROFL

Princess and the Frog, I have high hopes for ya.

Till next time!

Tranquil as a forest
But on fire within
Once you find your center you are sure to win
You're a spineless, pale pathetic lot
And you haven't got a clue
Somehow I'll make a man out of you

(we are men)
We must be swift as the coursing river
(we are men)
With all the force of a great typhoon
(we are men)
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon
- Misterius seperti sisi gelap sang bulan

~ I'll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan OST

As much as I find the chorus hilarious, it's stuck in my head. And yes, the BM translation was along the lines of that.
